How to integrate Google Sheets – Mailchimp bundle using Zapier?

Creating a new Record on Mailchimp when a new row on Google Sheets is created
A step by step guide for integrating Google Sheets – Mailchimp bundle using Zapier
1. Google Sheets setup
For this tutorial, we’re going to create a table with the following rows:
- Name
- Status
- Fill the rows out with required information Remember to enter a valid email address to avoid errors.
2. Mailchimp setup
- Register or log into your Mailchimp account.
How the integration works:
- A new row is created on a table in Google Sheets;
- Zapier creates a new record in Mailchimp.
- Creating a Zap. On the “Home” tab, click on “Create”:
- Select “Zaps”.
Adding a Trigger for Google Sheets
- To create a trigger on Zapier, click on “Trigger” button.
- Select the trigger app (Google Sheets in our case)
- Select the trigger event: In “Trigger Event” field, select “New Spreadsheet Row” (fig. 1) and connect your Google Account (fig. 2 & 3) Then click on “Continue” (fig. 4).
- Next, fill out the required fields and click on “Continue”
- Next, test the trigger by clicking on the corresponding button
- Next, the system will find and display the information requested. If everything is okay, click on “Continue with selected record”.
Adding Mailchimp as an action app.
- Select the action app.
- Select the action: In the “Action Event” field, select “Create/Update Contact” (fig. 1). Then connect your Mailchimp account (fig. 2 & 3). Then click on ”Continue”(fig. 4)
When connecting your Mailchimp, click on “Allow”
- Configure the action:
- Select an Audience in mailchimp, where you’d like new records to appear in.
Connect your Google Sheets fields with corresponding fields on Mailchimp.
- Connect “Name” field on Google Sheets to the “First Name” field on Mailchimp.
- Connect “Email” field on Google Sheets to the same field on Mailchimp.
- Connect “Status” field on Google Sheets to the same field on Mailchimp.
When you’ve done everything, click “Continue”..
- Testing the integration
Click on “Test Step”, to test data transfer between Google Sheets and Mailchimp.
- If the test was successful, click on “Publish”.
- Go to your Mailchimp and check if the data was received.
- If the data was received, click on “Transfer existing data” to transfer the remaining data.
- Click on “Turn On Zap”. From now on, when you create new rows on the Sheets spreadsheet, data from them will be automatically transferred to your Mailchimp database.
